"Progenitor of the family (lineage) Bumb from North
Palatinate has been Gerhard Bumb (Pomp, Bomp, Bump), born about
1659. On 9. Mai 1690 he married Anna Christina Krebs, daughter
of the married couple Mathias Krebs/Maria Christina Hinterschied,
tenants of the Hofgut (=farm, property of the duke of Pfalz-Zweibruecken)
Stolzenbergerhof. Anna Christina died in 1708, just 38 years
old and left after a 18-years marriage husband and 7 children
(2 sons, 5 daughters). The widower Gerhard Bumb joined 1709 in
a second marriage Anna Maria Morck. This marriage ended already
after two years, childless, Anna Maria Morck died in childbed. The name Bumb occurs already on earlier points in time on other locations in the South Palatinate (e.g. Dahn, Busenberg), in West Palatinate (Baumholder), in Suebia and in Schleswig-Holstein. But family connections couldn´t be cleared until now. The aquarell (watercolor painting) shows the lower Stolzenbergerhof, the origin of the lineage Bumb from North Palatinate. It was painted by Dieter Steller (Muenchweiler) in fall of the year 2000 and kindly released by him for publication on my genealogy website. The Stolzenbergerhof (comprising today the lower and the later - about 1720 - built upper Hof) is part of the community of Bayerfeld-Steckweiler (ca. 30 km north of Kaiserslautern). It´s located on the right bank of the Alsenz river, but 140 m above the center of the village, on a wide spread plateau. The Hof is named after the castle Stolzenberg which was totally destroyed in 1471... hardly to find some remnants, the ruins became quarry for the neigbouring farms." |
