A History of East Fortune Aerodrome

Not the most well known of Britain's military air stations, East Fortune is one of the most historic, not least because of the flight of the airship R.34 in 1919. Many precedents in the development of both civil and military British Aviation took place there. To their everlasting credit, the preservation organisation 'Historic Scotland' have designated the East Fortune site as an 'Ancient and Historic Monument', a worthy accolade to help preserve the memory of this once active military, and civil aerodrome

The Museum of Flight is situated at East Fortune Airfield, East Lothian, Scotland. It has a superb collection of aviation exhibits, with everything from gliders to jet fighters and space rockets. There are also many special events such as the PFA Fly-in, the Aero and Auto Extravaganza, and of course the Festival of Flight. The museum is really well worth a visit!
