Our relatives in the service

George E Allen

He served in the U. S. Army Air Force Quartermaster Corp as a sergeant, from October 1939 to November 1945. His duty was in California and New Mexico and then two years in Europe. In New Mexico, Pord made wooden model airplanes, literally hundreds of them which he sold to pay for his bar and food bills. It was also in New Mexico where he met his future wife... Wilma Wylie. They were engaged to be married until he got his shipping out orders, which changed that. Wilma wrote a letter to his mother introducing herself...a lovely letter. They were married in 1946 after the war was over, in the Methodist church on North Fifth street with only Mom and Don, the best man, in attendance.
